🌿 Peperomia ‘Red Edge’
Common Name: Red Edge Peperomia
Origin: Native to South America, primarily found in Brazil
Peperomia ‘Red Edge’ is a charming, compact plant known for its distinctive, dark green leaves with a bold red edge that gives it an eye-catching contrast. The fleshy, succulent-like leaves are thick and glossy, making this plant both an ornamental beauty and a low-maintenance addition to your home.
This variety of Peperomia thrives in indoor environments, perfect for adding vibrant color to your desk, shelf, or countertop. It’s easy to care for, making it an excellent choice for beginners and busy plant owners.
🌱 Care Tips:
Light:
Prefers bright, indirect light. While it can tolerate lower light, its vibrant red edges may fade without enough light. Avoid direct sunlight to prevent leaf burn.
Water:
Allow the soil to dry out between waterings. Water when the top 2–3 cm (1 inch) of soil feels dry. Be careful not to overwater, as Peperomias are prone to root rot.
Humidity:
Thrives in average to moderate humidity. It can adapt to normal indoor humidity but will appreciate occasional misting in dry environments.
Temperature:
Best between 18°C to 24°C (65°F to 75°F). Avoid exposure to temperatures below 10°C (50°F) and protect from cold drafts.
Soil:
Use a well-draining potting mix that retains some moisture but doesn’t stay soggy. A mix designed for succulents or aroid plants works well.
Fertiliser:
Feed once a month during the growing season (spring and summer) with a balanced, diluted liquid fertiliser. In winter, you can reduce or stop fertilising.
Pet Friendly:
✅ Yes – Peperomia ‘Red Edge’ is non-toxic to pets, making it a great addition for homes with curious cats or dogs.
